Residents

Purpose
The purpose of the Resident Councils is to identify strategies to improve the quality of life for PHA residents. Resident Councils are elected by public housing residents to represent the residents at each site. They are active participants in the management and policy-making of the Housing Authority.

Resident Councils serve as advocates for residents and encourage improvements in maintenance and physical conditions, public safety, and support services for residents.

Goals To Assist Residents
1. Provide educational development, employment training, job training and job retention training.
2. Establish resident councils and Resident Advisory Boards (RAB’s).
3. Encourage and increase community participation
4. Expand resident services program in the following areas:

  • Children’s Programs
  • Elderly Programs
  • Homeownership
5. Fund resident programs by identifying and pursuing alternative funding sources.
